Digital Pigment
Digital pigment printing on textiles applies colored pigments directly to the fabric's surface using a specialized inkjet printer. Unlike sublimation, it works on a variety of fabrics, including natural fibers like cotton and linen. While the ink doesn't infuse into the fibers, it offers good color vibrancy and a wide color gamut, making it suitable for apparel, home decor, and other textile applications. The prints are reasonably durable but may fade slightly over time with washing.
Pigment Pretreatment
Pigment pretreatment is a crucial step for those who digitally pigment print on fabrics but lack the specialized machinery for in-house pretreatment. This process involves applying a specially formulated solution to the fabric before printing. This pretreatment enhances ink adhesion, improves color vibrancy, and increases wash fastness. Softener Application: This treatment improves the handfeel of your fabric, making it softer and more pleasant to the touch. It's a great option for apparel and other textiles where a comfortable feel is desired.
Fixing Agent Application: This treatment significantly boosts colorfastness, making your prints more resistant to fading and bleeding during washing. It's highly recommended for projects where long-lasting vibrancy is essential.
Double Heat Setting: This process provides an extra level of heat exposure that further sets the pigment inks, offering an improvement in colorfastness. While not as effective as a fixing agent, it's a valuable option for added durability.
